Test your seller
What the test chat is, which version answers (draft or published), what you can simulate and how it differs from a real conversation.

What it is
Test your seller is a chat where you talk to your seller as if you were a customer. It answers with your setup, your catalog and your FAQs, just like in a real conversation, and its messages look the way they do on WhatsApp. Nothing you write there reaches anyone: nothing goes out through your channels. It sits in the dashboard, in the tab next to Yago.
Version answering
In Version answering you choose which setup the test chat answers with. Published answers exactly as it does for your customers right now. Draft (Test draft) answers with the changes you have not published yet, so you can try them before turning them on: testing them does not publish them. Switching versions starts a new test, and reloading the page goes back to Published.
What you can test
You can go through the whole sale as a customer would, start to finish, and see how your seller replies at each moment:
- The greeting: its first message and how it introduces itself
- Questions: what it answers with your business info and your FAQs
- Products: what it finds and recommends from your catalog, with photos
- Sales stages: whether it follows your flows and moves from one stage to the next
- The order and payment: how it builds the order and explains how to pay
- Handing the chat to you: when it passes the conversation to a person

How it differs from a real conversation
A test runs on your real seller but reaches nobody: what goes outside in a real conversation does not happen in a test.
| Test your seller | Real conversation | |
|---|---|---|
| Who gets the messages | Nobody | Your customer, on your connected channel |
| Conversations in your plan | Not used | Counted |
| WhatsApp balance and Meta charges | Not used | Only on WhatsApp, under its rules |
| Sale marked on the conversation | No | Yes, when the order is confirmed |
| Sale and handoff emails | Not sent | Sent if you set them up |
| Mercado Pago payment link | A test link, charges nothing | Real |
| Handing off to a person | Shows the notice, nobody answers | Pauses the chat and flags it in Conversations |
| Alerts about what your customers asked for | Not logged | Logged |
| Greeting the customer by name | No | On WhatsApp, when the conditions are met |
Testing on WhatsApp
You can also test from your own WhatsApp, writing to your business number. That is a real conversation: it counts toward your plan like any other and follows WhatsApp's charging rules. The /reset message makes your seller forget your chat history and answer you as a new customer on your next message; /reset itself gets no reply.
Yago reviews your test
With a chat open, a customer's in Conversations or one in Test your seller, Yago takes it as context (Chat with … or Test chat) and explains what your seller answered, what someone on your team sent and why it happened. It only reads chats you can see. If it lacks the information to know the cause, it says so instead of guessing, and if the cause is in your setup, it proposes the change.
